I have worked for over ten years as a production manager for numerous academic journals. Before that, I ran the ILL ragged checking sources. And before that, I cut my teeth as a copy editor. I have worked on a variety of books published by everything from university presses to small, selective publishers. My areas of publications expertise include comparative literature, Scandinavian studies, philosophy, and religion, and I am comfortable working in documents with multiple languages, including music.
In addition to the services offered below, I am happy to provide quotes for specific projects such as reworking a dissertation for publication as a book, indexing, article development, and production management for ongoing series or journals.
JOURNALS
Production management allows an editor to focus their efforts on the developing and nurturing the content of the journal while leaving the details of coordinating the production team and working with the press aside.
Different journals have utilized my skills in distinct ways: in addition to managing the production process, I can provide design and typesetting services, give editorial feedback, and even fill in as a copy editor. The most important thing is to produce a well-edited journal in a timely manner, and I can make that happen.

Annual publications: $4000–$6000 / year

MONOGRAPHS
I understand the work that goes into producing an academic volume. I also know how important it is to pay attention to the details such as notes and sources, names and dates, all while keeping an eye toward the larger issues of structure, argument, and tone.

DESIGN
Academic design is something of a tricky beast: depending on the context, a design may need to be fresh, professional, or provocative, all while catching the eye and communicating detailed information. Above all, it needs to be cost effective. Luckily, the reality is that in this day, unique and effective design can be achieved through the careful use of affordable resources.
My work utilizes a clean aesthetic with a focus on typography and edited photography. I am able to design across a wide range of platforms, including print books (covers and interiors), e-books (covers and interiors), posters, etc.
